"Kriya Yoga is an instrument through which human evolution can be quickened. The ancient yogis discovered that the secret of cosmic consciousness is intimately linked with breath mastery. This is India’s unique and deathless contribution to the world’s treasury of knowledge."

Purpose of Kriya Yoga

The purpose of Kriya Yoga is to transform your whole life into a continuous expression of joy, bliss and wisdom. It is designed to transform tamas into sattwa. It is intended to refine the whole being. One can say it brings the following changes:

1. Slowly whittles away fears, phobias, conflicts, depression, false ideas, conditioning etc hidden in the depths of the subconscious mind. Kriya yoga harmonizes the whole mind from the surface layers to the depths.

2. Induces dynamic relaxation where one can spontaneously do much more work and with much more power and effectiveness.

3. Induces meditation and brings spontaneous awareness.

Kriya Yoga is learnt in three main steps:

1. 38 Energisation Exercises that make every cell of your body come alive. These take only 15-18 minutes to practise and keep you energetic and dynamic throughout the day. Given by Paramhansa Yogananda of 'Autobiography of a Yogi' fame, these are part of every Kriya Yogi's routine.

2. Four specific Breathing Exercises/Pranayams that work on both the body and the mind to bring subtle changes in the subconscious. These are: Balanced Breathing, Thokar Pranayama, Hung Sau Technique and Aum Chanting.
3. The most divine 'Kriya Breath' that should be learnt once one has reached a comfort level with the above mentioned techniques and has noticed changes in one's being. Every single Kriya Breath accelerates your evolution by one year.
